About Andrew

Semipro Coffee Roaster.  Shalom Seeker.  Gentle Soul.

A coffee shop in Kyoto, Japan

I saw a counselor in my twenties and found the process life-changing.  By the end of it, I told my counselor, "I want to learn how to do what you do!" and I enrolled in the same program in which he was trained.

I'm a graduate of Midamerica Nazarene University's Master's of Arts in Counseling program.  There, I learned about treating trauma, celebrating embodiment, and the connecting power of emotion.  You can't unsee these things.  They've forever changed the way I look at the world.

I've affectionately called Kansas City home since 2014.  I love tossing a frisbee at Loose Park, wandering around the Nelson, visiting local breweries, picnicking at Shakespeare in the Park, getting ice cream at Betty Rae's, stuffing my face with BBQ, and walking around our beloved Brookside neighborhood.

My wife and I are having the time of our lives raising our two boys.

I find joy and rest in reading, roasting and drinking coffee, playing board games, pairing chocolate with whisky or wine, listening to progressive bluegrass and Americana, hiking when I can, and supporting my Liverpool Reds.

I am a provisional license professional counselor (PLPC) pursuing independent licensure in Missouri.  I practice under the supervision of Emily Viet, LPC, MO #2012032191
